Swans Ballet for Adults
Thursday 10:30am

Swans Ballet is classical ballet classes for adults of any age but originally developed the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) for the over 55s.

Classes are tailored to the needs of the participants such as seated classes, low impact classes, or regular standing classes but adjusted to the abilities and restrictions of dancers.  No dance experience required.

Dance classes help our ‘swans’ maintain muscle tone, develop co-ordination, stimulate memory skills and improve mobility and energy levels, just some of the physical and mental benefits of dance.

Each week will be different so if life gets in the way of you attending there is nothing to 'catch up on' when you return.

Class format will usually consist of a short warmup to get the body moving more freely, barre components to develop core skills, centre components build upon core skills as moving around the space, a short combination and a short cool down to relax and gently stretch the body.

Adult Modern Jazz
Monday 6:45pm

Commerical jazz is taken by our talented Shakira who studied and performed the style in Melbourne for 12 months in 2022.

If you enjoy a good boogie along the lines of video film clip movement you will love this class. Very modern, fresh, sassy and so much fun to do.

Class format will usually consist of a warmup to get the blood pumping and a light stretch, followed by a short combination to challenge the body and mind just a little while staying fun and enjoyable, then lastly completed with a short cool down to relax the body.

Class will be adapted to those who attend so no prior experience is required. No scary mirrors in the studio. Just a bunch of people getting together to dance.

Adult Hip-hop
Thursday 8pm

Adult hip-hop classes ran by our talented hip-hop teacher, Mackenzie.  Class usually involves a warm-up session to get the heart pumping, body warmed and lightly stretched, followed by a hip-hop combination to challenge the body and mind just a little while staying fun and enjoyable, then lastly completed with a short cool down to relax the body.

No dance experience required, just an enthusiasm to boogie when you hear music. Each week will be different so if life gets in the way of you attending there is nothing to 'catch up on' when you return.

Classes are tailored to the needs of the participants such as low impact classes, or can be adjusted to the abilities and restrictions of dancers.

Adult Tap Dancing
Wednesday 6:45pm

Adult tap dancing run by our very experienced tap dancer Sicely.

Classes will commence at a beginner level suitable for adult dancers.

 

Dancers will learn skills and movements that will enhance coordination of legs and ankles with added coordination of the arms.

Good musicaliaty helps but we will work on developing that too.

This can be quite a loud class when everyone is wearing tap shoes but can also be done in non grip runners or sandals.

At the beginner level this class is very low impact on the body but will very much challenge your mind and coordination.
